delicious, I wish nutritious, faux maple syrup

Here is a delicious substitution for maple syrup. It’s nothing like the real thing but it does work well as a substitute for regular pancake syrup you buy at the store, and the cost of making it is a fraction of its price on the shelf. So if you have a syrup fiend on Sunday morning, this may come in handy.

delicious faux maple syrup

  • 1 3/4 Cup White Sugar
  • 1/4 Cup Corn Syrup
  • 1 Cup Water

Bring these to a boil in a pot on the stove. Stir it cause it will want to burn. Once it boils, cover, and cook for 1 minute.

Cool slightly. Then add:

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon maple extract

Cover the pot for a few minutes as syrup cooks to melt down the crystals in the sugar; this helps to prevent the syrup from crystallizing later in storage.
